Academic Year 2024–2025: A Year of Purposeful Learning at San Luis and Arce Centers
As summer arrives, our classrooms gradually empty, but our hearts are filled with memories, lessons, and shared experiences. The recent celebrations of our Baccalaureate and Vocational Training graduations are still fresh in our minds, marking the end of a remarkable academic year.
14/07/2025 - ArtículosWe bring to a close an academic year full of challenges and opportunities, which we have journeyed through alongside our students, faculty, families, companies, and partner institutions. It's time for rest and renewal, but also a moment to look back and appreciate all we’ve lived. In this post, we want to share a summary of what the 2024–2025 school year has meant for our Vocational Training and Baccalaureate centers. A chronicle that values collective effort and reaffirms our commitment to transformative, accessible, and purposeful education.
The San Luis–Arce Educational Group concludes a highly active year. From technological innovation to social commitment, from internationalization to youth entrepreneurship, this course has left its mark. Throughout the 2024–2025 academic year, we have continued to support a transformative Vocational Training model, rooted in our local context and with a global outlook, placing people at the heart of the educational process. The experiences of our students, faculty, and staff reflect a robust educational model, open to its environment, aligned with the values of the 2030 Agenda, and committed to the social and professional development of our community.
General Dual Training and Intensive Dual VET: A Consolidated Commitment
One of the most significant achievements this year has been the consolidation of Intensive Dual VET and in-company internships (General Dual Training) as an integral part of our curriculum. 100% of Higher Level students and 60% of Intermediate Level students completed internships in more than 200 companies across Bizkaia, demonstrating the strong connection between the center and the local business fabric.
A total of 38 Intensive Dual VET projects were also managed. Additionally, the second edition of the IzanFPDual awards helped establish this event as one of the most highly valued by the partner companies, who recognize the essential role they play. The Intensive Dual VET model has also grown in popularity, with a significant number of students joining this paid work-and-learn format.
MenTek-AI: Educational Innovation with International Recognition
This year has been pivotal for the growth and outreach of MenTek-AI. We launched the second version, MenTek-AI World, an artificial intelligence tool developed by Centro San Luis and funded by the Vocational Training Secretariat of the Basque Government's Department of Education to promote emotional well-being in classrooms.
This innovative project was presented with great success at EDULEARN25 in Mallorca, was a finalist at the #IE25 awards in Málaga, and won the Quality Innovation Award and the Basque Award for Advanced Management by Euskalit.
Thanks to collaboration with ARCE and other VET centers, MenTek-AI World has been tested in real training environments, demonstrating its effectiveness in supporting emotional health through gamified strategies. These types of initiatives reinforce our commitment to holistic education that nurtures both knowledge and personal well-being.
Erasmus+: A Window to Europe
Internationalization has remained a key pillar of our strategy. Thanks to the Erasmus+ program, students and faculty from San Luis and Arce have participated in training experiences in countries such as Italy, Greece, Poland, Ireland, Portugal, and Malta. These mobility programs allow students to apply what they’ve learned in real-world settings, strengthen their personal growth, and develop linguistic and cultural competencies.
We also hosted visits from international institutions, including a delegation from Azerbaijan and several schools from Italy, all of whom expressed interest in the Basque VET model and the ETHAZI methodology.
Youth Entrepreneurship: Creativity, Technology, and Values
Entrepreneurial culture has been a prominent theme this year. Through the IKASENPRESA initiative, students presented more than twenty startup projects at fairs in Eibar and at our own center. We also participated in Enpresari programs and various hackathons, where students demonstrated their ability to design innovative solutions to real-world challenges. These platforms not only enhance creativity and teamwork but promote proactive mindsets aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Equality, Critical Thinking, and 4.0 Values
Throughout the year, we have promoted campaigns and workshops focused on equality and human values. We took part in the November 25th and March 8th campaigns, offering activities that encouraged reflection on the role of women in science and society. In addition, we hosted training sessions for teachers on graphic humor and 4.0 values. These actions are part of a pedagogical strategy for inclusive, conscious, and critical education, where equality and respect are transversal principles in our curriculum.
Education for Sustainability: Ecology, Recycling, and Community Action
Sustainability has been a cornerstone of our educational approach. Initiatives such as the Environmental Olympics, Arce Eguna, and visits to the eco-environmental classroom in Artigas have raised awareness among students about the importance of reducing waste, recycling, protecting nature, and promoting sustainable mobility. Through creative challenges and collective reflection, students have taken an active role in environmental stewardship, reinforcing their commitment to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
Social Commitment and Solidarity Projects
San Luis and Arce have maintained a strong social commitment throughout the year. We launched five solidarity projects in collaboration with organizations focused on youth support and equality, including FP Peñascal, Alas Gambia, and the fight against breast cancer through ACAMBI. We also worked with food banks and associations supporting the homeless.
Activities such as aesthetic treatment days for charity and fundraising for school supplies helped engage students in meaningful causes that bring human values into the educational experience.
Ongoing Teacher Training
Educational innovation requires continuous professional development. Our teaching staff has participated in numerous training sessions focused on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cloud services, gamification, and virtual reality. Notably, Centro San Luis played a key role in leading the VII Innovation Community of Basque VET, organized by TKNIKA. These efforts strengthen our pedagogical model and ensure that innovation reaches every classroom.
Learning for Life: Senior Education
Our senior education program deserves special mention. With courses in art history, English, and French, we have fostered intergenerational learning in a friendly and adaptive environment. The enthusiastic response shows that learning has no age limit, and our centers remain spaces of opportunity at every life stage.
Professional Services Open to the Community
As in previous years, Centro Arce has offered professional hairdressing and beauty services to the local community. Delivered by our Image Personal students, this experience allows learners to develop practical skills in a real setting while providing high-quality, accessible services. The training experience has also been enhanced with state-of-the-art equipment, including INDIBA, laser hair removal, and LPG technologies.
Enrollment and Orientation for the 2025–2026 Academic Year
Although this academic year is ending, preparations for the next are already underway. Enrollment for the 2025–2026 academic year opened in May, with provisional and final lists published in July, and an extraordinary enrollment period scheduled for September. In both Vocational Training and Baccalaureate, San Luis and Arce offer education geared toward employability, grounded in values and responsive to today’s challenges. For those who have not yet secured a place, waiting lists remain open.
